The Sedro-Woolley School District is hosting "Reading & Resources on the Field" from 5:30–6:30 p.m. Thursday, August 22 on the Cascade Middle School playfields (905 McGarigle Road). There will be 500 FREE backpacks stuffed with school supplies (thank you Inspire Church!). Helping Hands Food Bank, the Sedro-Woolley Boys & Girls Club and other key organizations will be on hand to provide families with information about their services. There will be fire trucks, police cars and Central Skagit Library will be there with information about their multitude of youth activities. For more information, email swsdcoms@swsd101.org.

Parents should be prepared to upload high-quality images of their child’s birth certificate and immunization records to complete the registration process. Families of incoming kindergarten students, or those new to the district should call the transportation department (360-855-3504) starting today, August 1, for 2024-2025 route information. Parents should not wait until the last minute if their student is new to the district! Please alert the transportation department if your child will be riding the bus! Drivers will be learning new routes leading up to school, so alerting the department as early as possible is essential. If your student will no longer be riding the bus or if your family has recently moved, please also alert the transportation department!

The Sedro-Woolley High School Girls Basketball Team will be hosting a community night on Monday, July 29, from 6–7 p.m. The Woolley community is invited to attend and celebrate basketball! Tables with information about basketball for all ages will be set up at the event, including SWISH & Club Hoop. The night will include games, activities, crafts and prizes. The team looks forward to see families there for a fun, informational and basketball-centered evening to support the Girls Basketball Program! #CubStrong

The district will offer free summer meals starting next week at Cascade Middle School and Mary Purcell Elementary School. Meals will be served Monday through Thursday, July 29 to August 15. Breakfast will be served from 9–9:30 a.m.; lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meals must be consumed on site. Anyone age 18 or younger may come to eat free of charge. The U.S. Department of Agriculture partners with local school districts and organizations like the Sedro-Woolley School District each year to provide free meals to children when school is out for the summer.

Foundations K: Apply NOW for the 2024-2025 program. Students who turn five (5) between September 1, 2024 - August 31, 2025, and show need in the areas listed below are eligible for the Foundations K Program: 1. Academics 2. Emotional/social development 3. Fine and Gross motor skills 4. Language development Parents or guardians who believe that their child is an appropriate candidate for the Foundations K Program should complete the application below as soon as possible. The start date for the 2024-2025 school year will be in EARLY October. The school board will meet on June 26, 2024 for their regularly scheduled board meeting. The board will not take action on the 2024-2025 budget on June 26th. They will hold a public meeting for the presentation of the proposed 2024-2025 budget in July. They will also hold a public hearing on the proposed budget and could take action in a follow-up meeting in July. Public notice and additional information will be provided per the statutory requirements.

The Y Blended Preschool (offered in partnership with the Sedro-Woolley School District at the Good Beginnings Preschool Campus) will focus on the developmental needs of children ages 3-4 years old and will use a curriculum that aligns with local school districts to ensure kindergarten readiness. Y Preschools are "blended" as children with special needs and typically developing children learn alongside one another. This helps all children develop problem-solving skills while practicing kindness, compassion, and respect.
