Lyman Elementary

Facility maintenance projects are planned over multiple years based on building conditions and available funding. Here’s a snapshot of recent and planned facility work at Lyman Elementary School.

Completed with the 2021–2026 Capital Project Levy
• Replaced exterior siding

Projects delayed due to inflationary cost increases
• Repair sinkholes in the asphalt parking area

Planned improvements if the replacement levy is approved

In addition to site-specific projects, the proposed levy supports ongoing districtwide facility, safety, and technology needs that benefit all schools, including Lyman. These projects occur throughout the six-year levy period and are not tied to a single year or building.

• School Resource Officer support (in partnership with the City of Sedro-Woolley)
• Ongoing technology replacement and infrastructure support
• Security camera replacement and system maintenance
• Telephone system replacement
• Flooring replacement (carpet and tile)
• Student furniture replacement
• Exterior painting of district buildings

Planning note: Short-term levy projects are developed through the Citizens Advisory Committee based on facility maintenance data. Separate long-range facility planning examines district facility needs over the next 10–20 years.

🐟 Learning Comes to Life at Lyman Elementary!

Students at Lyman Elementary are getting a close-up look at science in action through a salmon hatchery project right at school. With support from Skagit Fisheries Enhancement Group, a tank and salmon eggs were installed after winter break, and Mr. Swanson is leading the project with students.

Each day, students are observing and documenting the changes the salmon go through. The eggs are expected to hatch this week, and in early March—once they reach the smolt stage—the salmon will be released into a local stream with help from the enhancement group.

Hands-on learning, local partnerships, and real-world science all in one project! 🌱🐟

🐾🎉 Wildcat Assembly at Lyman!
Families are welcome at 9:35 a.m. on December 19 to celebrate students and close out 2025 together.

Due to ongoing flood-related road closures, Sedro-Woolley School District will operate on a two-hour late start on Monday, December 15.

This decision allows additional time to assess road conditions and support safe travel for students, families, and staff.

Due to updated flood information from this morning’s emergency briefings, Sedro-Woolley School District will have early dismissal across the district today:
⏰ Cascade Middle School: 11:30 a.m.
⏰ Sedro-Woolley High School: 11:45 a.m.
⏰ State Street High School: 11:45 a.m.
⏰ All Elementary Schools: 1:00 p.m.

🍽️ Students will be served lunch before dismissal.
🚫 No PM Good Beginnings Preschool.

🚌 Buses will run immediately after dismissal. Families on impacted routes will be contacted if changes are needed.
