Sedro-Woolley High School students put their Career and Technical Education skills to the test yesterday at the 2026 Northwest Washington Construction Career Day in Lynden!
Twenty-five Cubs attended the hands-on event alongside instructors Preston Stankey and Dan Caldwell, where students explored careers in the construction industry through activities involving heavy equipment, construction trades, surveying, crane simulators, and more.
Our students made an impressive showing throughout the day, landing on many of the event leaderboards and earning cash prizes for their performance. Altogether, Sedro-Woolley students brought home $375 in prize money!
More importantly, the event gave students the opportunity to see how the skills they are learning in the classroom directly translate to real-world success. From operating equipment to completing trade-related challenges, students demonstrated the kind of knowledge and hands-on ability that can open doors to high-demand careers after graduation.
Students shared that one of their favorite parts of the day — besides being outside and participating in fun, hands-on activities — was seeing their success during the competitions and activities. Their strong performance reinforced that the skills they are building at Sedro-Woolley High School are preparing them for future careers in the trades.
We are proud of how our Cubs represented Sedro-Woolley High School and the strong Career and Technical Education programs available in our district!
