The first day of school is always exciting—but this year it comes with a major traffic challenge. The roundabout construction at John Liner Rd, McGarigle Rd, and Township St (SR 9) will make getting to school tricky through September.
What to expect:
• Township/SR 9 closed to thru traffic Sept. 3–Oct. 1
• Bus routes in the area may run 5–10 minutes late
• Flaggers & district crossing guards will be on site to help
What families can do:
🚌 The BEST option: Have your student ride the bus—even just for September. Call Transportation at 360-855-3504 to set up a stop.
🚗 If you must drive, use the detour routes on the Car Route Map (attached).
🚶 Walkers: Please use the safe paths shown on the Pedestrian Route Map (attached). Walk the route with younger students before Sept. 2.
Reminders:
• The old CMS entrance off Township is closed for drop-off/pickup.
• Evergreen parents: Use the CMS loop to stage for pick up in the afternoon only after 2:50 p.m.
• Avoid Carter Street if possible—it’s too narrow for heavy traffic.
👉 Bottom line: This is NOT the year to drive on the first day. Snap that first-day photo at home and send your student on the bus. You’ll save time, stress, and help keep everyone safe.
Thank you for your patience as we work together to start the school year safely!
