Students at Lyman Elementary spent this afternoon enjoying some classic, old-fashioned fun during their annual Play Day! From tug-of-war and sack race relays to sponge bucket challenges and more, laughter and teamwork filled the field.

Today, members of the Educators Rising Club at Sedro-Woolley High School—students with a passion for becoming future educators—got to meet their third-grade pen pals from Jennifer Swenson’s class at Mary Purcell Elementary!
After weeks of exchanging notes via spiral notebooks that the third graders get to keep, the students came together to celebrate with ice cream sundaes and lots of smiles. This special connection gave high schoolers a glimpse into the joy of working with young learners—and gave third graders some amazing role models to look up to! 💙

Members of the Class of 2025 visited the Cubs Early Learning Academy last week before graduation—but not as preschoolers this time! These seniors started their educational journey upstairs in the C Building.
For over 40 years, this unique preschool program has been a part of the Sedro-Woolley School District, evolving into a hands-on learning experience for high school students while serving families in our community. ❤️👶📘

📣 Congratulations to Sedro-Woolley High School senior Landon Steele, recipient of the Barbara Ward Thompson Alumni Scholarship Award! 🎓💙
Although Landon was unable to attend Wednesday evening’s Senior Awards Night, he met with Mrs. Thompson at the high school to receive his certificate and take a photo.
Much like Landon—who served as ASB President this year—Mrs. Thompson, now 99, was also an incredibly involved student during her time at SWHS. Her 1943 yearbook write-up was impressively long, filled with honors and leadership roles: Honor Society for three years, Girls’ Club Secretary, Pep Club member, class president, yearbook editor, Ski Club, tennis manager, bookroom clerk, Class Song Leader, co-captain scrap driver, and so much more. She was even salutatorian and served on committees ranging from dances to fuel rationing.
It’s clear the spirit of leadership and service runs strong in our Cub community—across generations. 💙🐾

💡 Helpful Reminders for Tonight’s Graduation Ceremony:
📍 Gates open at 5:30 PM — seating is first-come, first-served. There’s plenty of room, but there is no reserved seating. Graduation begins at 7 p.m.
🎟️ Graduation tickets are required for all guests. If your family needs more, students may ask an administrator during practice tomorrow morning.
🐶 No animals are permitted in the stadium. Only licensed service animals are allowed—please check in with security upon arrival.
🪑 No lawn chairs are allowed; stadium seats are welcome!
🎈 Please leave balloons and large signs at home to ensure everyone can enjoy an unobstructed view of the ceremony.

🎓🐾 Moving Up at Sedro-Woolley High School! 🐾🎓
This morning, Cubs gathered in the gym for the annual Moving Up Assembly — a powerful tradition marking the transition of each class to the next stage of their high school journey.
📚 Freshmen moved into the sophomore section.
🎓 Sophomores stepped up to the junior seats.
💼 Juniors advanced to the senior seating.
🌟 And the Class of 2025? They made their official move down to the gym floor, taking their places in rows of chairs — a symbolic moment that signifies they’re just days away from graduation.
The assembly also celebrated our students' incredible achievements:
🏆 Faculty and department awards were presented to seniors.
🧠 Department awards were also given to juniors.
⚽ Athletic accomplishments were recognized.
🔧 Career & Technical Education students were honored.
💰 Most impressive of all — the Class of 2025 has been awarded over $2 million in scholarships!
