The Mount Vernon School District is excited to be hosting Austina De Bonte, former President of the Northwest Gifted Child Association and nationally recognized expert on the cognitive, social and emotional development of Highly Capable children. Her presentation is titled: Smart Is Not Easy: What Research Says About Highly Capable Learners. The presentation will take place on Monday, Nov. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mount Vernon High School Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public. The discussion is geared toward parents, teachers and administrators. While students are welcome to attend, the content will be dense and it may be difficult for some children to maintain attention. On Sunday, the Sedro-Woolley High School Earth Club did a Bag-o-thon trash pickup around the high school campus to raise money for Earth Club activities. The group collected 8 bags of trash with students requesting a pledge per bag of trash collected. What a creative fundraiser!
