The first day of school is almost here! Whether you're a returning Cub or joining us for the first time, here's everything you need to know before the 2026–27 school year begins.

Back-to-Business Days
9 a.m.–12:30 p.m. and 1:30–5:30 p.m.
(Staff lunch: 12:30–1:30 p.m.)
Back-to-Business Days are the easiest way to get ready for the new school year. Students and families can complete many beginning-of-the-year tasks in one visit.
Student Forms
Families are required to review and update student information each year, including:
Demographic Form
Health Form
These forms require a parent or guardian signature and will be available in the cafeteria. If a student attends Back-to-Business Days without a parent or guardian, completed forms may be returned during the first week of school.
Student Pictures
All students must have a current school picture taken for student identification cards and the yearbook.
Please note that props are not permitted in official school photos, including hats, sunglasses, pets, friends, siblings or other items.
Schedules
Students in grades 10–12 may pick up their class schedules.
Athletics
Students may complete athletics paperwork and submit medical forms. See more information about Final Forms below. Also athletes must have a current $40 ASB Card. See more information about financial assistance below.
Parking Permits
Students who qualify may register for a parking permit. See more information about permits below.
ASB Cards, Yearbooks and Fees
Families are encouraged to purchase ASB cards, yearbooks and pay course fees or fines online beginning August 18.
If you plan to submit a Financial Survey and may qualify for an ASB card waiver, please wait to purchase your ASB card until your eligibility has been determined.
To help reduce wait times, families are encouraged to make purchases online. The ASB Office will be available during Back-to-Business Days to answer questions, and purchases can also be made after school begins.
Financial Assistance
Families who received a Direct Certification letter should submit a Consent to Share form.
Families who may qualify for educational benefits may also complete a Financial Survey, which will be available at the Food Services table during Back-to-Business Days.
August 28 - Ninth Grade Orientation
9–11:30 a.m.
(Arrive by 8:30 a.m.)
Incoming freshmen will meet their advisory teacher and Cub Crew mentors. Picture make-ups and Back-to-Business make-ups for all grade levels will be available from 11 a.m.–3 p.m.
September 1 - First Day of School (Grades 1–12)
Welcome back! We look forward to an outstanding school year.
September 7 - Labor Day - No school.
September 9 - Open House, 5–6:30 p.m.
Meet teachers, visit classrooms and learn more about the year ahead.
June 11, 2027 - Class of 2027 Graduation
Save the date! Additional graduation information will be shared throughout the school year.
Blue/White Block Schedule
Sedro-Woolley High School follows a Blue/White Block Schedule.
September 1 is a Blue Day.
September 2 is a White Day.
The schedule then continues alternating throughout the school year.
Please note that make-up days during second semester do not change the Blue/White rotation. Because these days are used to make up contractual staff time, students may occasionally have two Blue Days or two White Days in a row.

Athletics
Students planning to participate in athletics must complete Final Forms before the first day of the sport season they plan to participate in.
Athletic physicals are valid for two years and should be uploaded through Final Forms or emailed to rmorgan@swsd101.org.

Attendance
Regular attendance is essential for student success. If your student will be absent or needs to leave school during the day, please follow these procedures.
Reporting an Absence
To excuse an absence, please leave a voicemail for the Sedro-Woolley High School Attendance Office at 360-855-3512.
Leaving School During the Day
If your student has an appointment that cannot be scheduled before or after school, please send them to school with a signed note from a parent or guardian.
Students should bring the note to the Attendance Office before the school day begins to receive an excused release slip to take to their teacher. This helps ensure a smooth release process and minimizes classroom disruptions.

Students and families are encouraged to review the Student Handbook before school begins. It includes important information about attendance, expectations, student conduct, technology, athletics and school procedures.

Cell Phone Expectations
To help maximize learning time, Sedro-Woolley High School classrooms use a cell phone storage system during instructional time.
As students enter class, teachers will ask them to place their cell phones in a designated classroom holder. Phones remain accessible if needed for a genuine emergency, but staying out of students' hands during instruction helps reduce distractions and keeps the focus on learning.
Students may use classroom or office telephones if they need to contact home, and the school office is always available to assist families during emergencies.
Thank you for supporting this classroom expectation as we work together to create a focused, productive learning environment for all students.
School Supplies
Most teachers will provide course-specific supply lists during the first week of school.
Students are encouraged to bring these general supplies:
Large three-ring binder
Dividers
Blue or black pens
Pencils
Two or more highlighters
Four or more composition notebooks
Three-hole lined notebook paper (8.5 x 11)
Student Parking
Students who wish to drive to school must register their vehicle through the Student Services Office.
Parking permits are available during Back-to-Business Days. Students must have:
A valid Washington driver's license
Current Washington vehicle registration
All school fees paid (excluding senior graduation fees)
Senior parking permits are issued on a first-come, first-served basis. Remaining eligible students will be placed on a waiting list if necessary.
Students should review all parking rules before registering.

Meal Program Update
Beginning with the 2026–27 school year, Sedro-Woolley High School will return to a standard meal program because the district no longer qualifies to operate the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) at the high school.
What this means for families:
Students who qualify for
free or reduced-price meals
will continue to receive one free breakfast and one free lunch each school day.
Students who do not qualify will pay for school meals. Meal prices will be announced before school begins.
Families who may qualify are encouraged to complete a Child Nutrition Eligibility and Education Benefit application. Applications will be available in August on the Food Service webpage and during Back-to-Business Days.
À la carte food options are expected to return during the school year.
Additional information about meal applications, pricing and menus will be shared before school starts.
Health Services
Our school nurse is available to assist students and families with health-related needs throughout the school year.
