Hands-on learning in action! ⚙️🚜⚡️

Students from both State Street High School and Sedro-Woolley High School participated in the WAVE (Washington Apprenticeship Vocational Experience) tour last week — exploring real-world careers in the trades through hands-on activities.

Students had the chance to:
🛠 Build metal toolboxes with Western Sheet Metal
⚡️ Learn about becoming an electrician with JATC Electrician Apprenticeship
🚜 Use a virtual backhoe simulator with the Operating Engineers Regional Training Program
💪 Try out a jackhammer and learn about construction from LiUNA Northwest Laborers Training
🚤 Explore boat design technology with Aspen Power Catamarans, learning how strong, lightweight boats are made

These hands-on experiences help students connect classroom learning to future career paths — and the excitement was real!

Students and staff across Sedro-Woolley School District joined millions worldwide today for the Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drill—practicing how to stay safe in the event of an earthquake.

At State Street High School, students took cover under desks and tables as part of this annual statewide safety exercise.

Drills like this help us stay prepared and ready to respond in an emergency. 💪

Today is the first day of the 2025–2026 school year for first through 12th grade students! Kindergarteners will join us on Friday.

Start times:
Cascade Middle School: 7:40 a.m.
Sedro-Woolley High School: 7:55 a.m.
State Street High School: 8 a.m.
All seven elementary schools: 9:25 a.m.

Late-start Wednesdays begin this week to give our staff time for professional learning and collaboration. On those days, schools start one hour later than usual (8:40, 8:55, 9:00, and 10:25 a.m.). There will be no late start on November 5, November 26, or June 10—mark your calendars now!
