Applications Now Open for Good Beginnings ECEAP Preschool!
Do you have a child who will be 3 or 4 years old for the 2026–27 school year? Good Beginnings Preschool is excited to offer ECEAP (Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program), a free, high-quality preschool program for eligible families.
ECEAP helps children build a strong foundation for kindergarten and beyond through:
• Social-emotional learning
• Early literacy and math skills
• Hands-on exploration and play
• Learning opportunities led by certified teachers
To help determine eligibility and placement options, families are asked to complete a Preschool Interest Form. The form includes questions about your child's age, preschool experience, family size and income, languages spoken at home, and any developmental, educational, or support services your child may receive or need.
Families with children who have an IEP, have received early intervention services, are in foster or kinship care, are members of a Tribal Sovereign Nation, or are experiencing housing instability are encouraged to apply.

Grandparents, older siblings, cousins, and family friends can all help build literacy skills simply by sharing a favorite story.
Just 15–20 minutes of reading each day can make a difference.
The Northern State Recreation Area offers miles of trails and opportunities to explore nature close to home.
Pack water, wear comfortable shoes, and head out for an adventure.
Visit the Heritage Flight Museum in Burlington and explore historic aircraft, military history, and aviation technology.
History comes alive when children can see it up close.
Choose a book everyone can enjoy and spend a few minutes each week talking about favorite characters, funny moments, or what might happen next.
Reading together builds vocabulary, comprehension, and a lifelong love of books.
Kindergarten registration is still open. Families who missed spring registration can enroll online now. Schools with more than one kindergarten class will contact families in late August to schedule kindergarten screening appointments, which help create balanced classrooms.

This summer, have your incoming kindergartener practice sharing, taking turns, and being patient. These social skills help children build friendships and feel confident in the classroom.
C is for Counting
Count everything.

Helping children recognize and understand numbers builds a strong math foundation.
Challenge your family to have a "90s Summer" by putting away devices and spending more time outdoors.

The Sedro-Woolley Museum offers a fascinating look at local history, pioneer life, logging, and the people who helped shape our community.
