    6th Grade

Welcome to the 6th grade class! My main goals for 6th grade are both academic and social. Academically the students need to master the skills required by Washington State and the district. Socially the 6th grade students need to be ready for their 7th grade year at Cascade. This includes everything from personal responsibility to problem solving situations rather than just reacting.

On a personal note I have been married for 41 years to Phil and we've lived in Sedro-Woolley for 35 years. We have one son, Jeff, who is 42. I have both a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree from Western Washington University. My hobbies include reading, counted cross stitch and jigsaw puzzles.

    What Parents "Need to Know":
    1. Monday Notes come home every Monday (the kids have to show them to me to get on the bus!). A signed Monday Note returned the next school day is worth 5 bonus points.
    2. Assignment books should be signed by you every evening. You are not signing that the work is done, only that you have seen the book. Assignment book signatures are worth one bonus point daily.
    3. Spelling tests are on the last school day of the week.
    4. Email is a great way to communicate with me.
    5. Students are expected to read a minimum of 30 minutes a day.
    6. Calendars will most often be in the first Monday Note of the month. Please post them and refer to them as needed.
    7. You have a magnet with my contact information. It is fine to call me at home if needed.
    8. If you know your child is going to miss school due to family trips, sporting event, etc. please get a pre-approved absence form filled out as early as possible.
    9. When you have a pre-approved absence the work is due upon returning to school.
    10. Encourage your child to have fun and enjoy the school year.
