    Welcome to Mr. Swanson's class!

Welcome to our classroom.  I am excited to start a new year with the class of 2029! This year expect your student to work hard! Third grade is an exciting and tough year for learning. They will explore place value up to 10,000, addition and subtraction within 1,000, multiply, divide, learn fractions, write a narrative story, write an informational essay, write an opinion essay, read chapter books, and much much more. A lot of these things your student hasn't been exposed to yet and will be expected to master some of these skills. With that being said, your student will have a fun year! I love teaching and try to show that to the kids everyday.
For reminders to come directly to your cell phone like homework, book orders, A.R. deadlines, and anything else of that nature please text the word @2018thi to 81010 and then send in your name. This is just like any text you would send, but once you are done I can send out a message to everyone, on any kind of cell phone, about a reminder.
    Mr. Swanson facts:
    1) My wife, Jenny, teaches first grade at Evergreen. We have been married since 2007.  A side cool fact about her is both her parents, Pat and Garret Kamimura, taught for the Sedro-Woolley School District. Pat taught at Evergreen and Cascade, and Garret taught at the High school.
    2) I have two children. Max, my oldest, was born in February 2015. Bennett, my youngest, was born July 1st of 2017. Being their dad has been is an absolute joy.
    3) I have two older brothers and one younger sister. One brother works at Nintendo, the other brother makes video games (pretty cool huh?). My sister goes to college at Central Washington University. (that's where I went)
    4) My parents live about a quarter of a mile from Lyman Elementary School. They live on the corner of Main Street and Maple. You might know it as the house with the garden.
    5)  My sister-inlaw (Mrs. Swanson's sister) is the head golf coach at WSU.
6)I grew up in Lyman. The same house my parents are in now is the house that I grew up in. I went to Lyman Elementary, first grade through sixth.(kindergarten wasn't at Lyman yet) The room I teach in was my 5th grade class. Funny thing is my wife teaches where she went to school also.
    7) I am a huge fan of the Seattle Seahawks! I remember as a small kid reinacting, with my own plastic football helmet, every play of the 'Hawks game as my mom and dad watched the game.
