Julie Erickson1st GradePhone:
Welcome to our classroom. For anyone that spends time with us you will verify it is a very busy room. There are parents working with students, kids working with me, kids working on their own and kids doing "workshop" with learning games or focused activities around the room. Hopefully, we are all learning. I believe in making learning fun and let the motivation for learning become internalized. My passion is reading. I have over 4000 books in my classroom (and many more at home). Teach a child to read and they will fly. Help them learn their passions and the sky is the limit. We love our "discovery table". I fill it monthly with a unique collection to expand their world...birds nests, fossils, rocks, shells, instruments around the world, magnets etc. I LOVE connecting them with their real world. Feel free to share anything you have.In my personal life I have 2 great kids both on their own. Son just bought his first house in Bellingham and is a high energy downhill bicycle racer/jumper/make-mama-nervous kind of kid that comercially fishes and works in his bicycle industry for a living. My daughter graduated from Linfield College in Oregon in graphic design and marketing. She is working in her field at the Skagit Valley Herald. She has spent time in Africa & Costa Rica & has the travel bug. I have a huge garden and an art studio FULL of beads and items I love to "play" with. My dog, Bella, and 18 year old cat, Wally, share (sort of) our space in Sedro Woolley. Please feel free to contact me using the e-mail link at any time during the school year. You may also call the school office and I will return your call as soon as possible.
