Students learn basic knowledge of child development and parenting. Students will study: theories of physical, emotional, social and moral development, planning age appropriate learning activities and basic parenting skills. Students will plan and implement activities in a working preschool on site.
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TUTORS AND ASSISTANTS
Students will work as an assistant to an elementary teacher. Duties could include making copies, correcting papers, creating bulletin boards, running errors within the school and tutoring elementary students.
COMMUNITY LEADERSStudents will work as student mentors to elementary school children teaching an alcohol prevention and safe riding program (Protecting You/Protecting Me). This is an excellent leadership opportunity to support your community making a difference in children's lives.
Family Health focuses on transitioning toward life as an adult. Students learn skills to make informed decisions surrounding health choices and relationships. Mental, physical, social and emotional health and their effects on the individual and family are explored.
