Studying at Western Washington University for an extended period of time, Mr. Hendry was fortunate to play principal trumpet for several ensembles and productions, including: WWU Wind Symphony, WWU Orchestra, WWU 2:00 Jazz Band, WWU Scholarship Brass Quintet, and theatrical productions of Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, and Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story. Additionally, Mr. Hendry has performed with the Sammamish Symphony Orchestra, the Skagit Symphony, the Sea Notes jazz band of Oak Harbor, the A-Town Big Band of Anacortes, and the Brass Menagerie brass quintet of Mount Vernon. Currently Mr. Hendry is a trumpeter with the Whatcom Wind Ensemble, based in Bellingham, WA, and is one of its founding conductors.Mr. Hendry has been the Director of Bands at Sedro-Woolley High School since the 2004-05 school year. His ensembles have received numerous awards in his tenure. For the 2007-08 school year, Brad Hendry took a sabbatical from his position at Sedro-Woolley to pursue a Master’s Degree in Instrumental Conducting and a Teaching Assistantship with the Director of Bands at WWU. In addition to conducting works with both the Symphonic Band and the Wind Symphony at Western, Mr. Hendry directed the Viking Band in its inaugural season. At Sedro-Woolley High School, Mr. Hendry directs the Marching Band, Pep Band, Percussion Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, and Jazz Bands in addition to coaching smaller groups, such as the Brass Quintet and Sax Quartet, and individuals for various events such as the SJMEA Solo & Ensemble competition.Brad Hendry has studied trumpet with Vince Green, Kevin Seeley, and Steve Ross, and conducting with Dr. David Wallace (WWU), Dr. Christopher Bianco (WWU), Dr. James Smart (U of MT), Kevin Sedatole (Mich St. Univ.), Dr. Steven Davis (UMKC), Craig Kirchoff (U of MN), and Allan McMurray (U of Colorado).Mr. Hendry has been happily married to his wife, Amy, Since 2004. Mrs. Hendry is an administrator in the Lakewood School District near Marysville, WA. Together they have two boys named Connor and Grayson and two golden retrievers named Hank and Charlie.
