• Sedro-Woolley School District - Emergency Operation Plan

The personal safety and health of students and the public and the protection of district property and assets are primary concerns of the Superintendent of the Sedro-Woolley School District. The Superintendent of the Sedro-Woolley School District will designate an employee to develop and implement the Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) for each school site and the District Office. As such, Lyman Elementary Principal Scott McPhee has been appointed to be the District Emergency Operation Plan (EOP) Coordinator.

Mr. McPhee will prepare school site-specific instructions for implementing the plan, revise the plan as needed and plan trainings to sufficiently prepare staff for school site emergencies.

The EOP Coordinator will be responsible for the formation of the District's Emergency Operation Planning Team and completion of the six-step process to develop/review our emergency response plans in accordance with both state and federal regulations as outlined in RCW 28A.320.125.

During an emergency, the board recognized that the district’s educational goals may be temporarily superseded by the need to protect the safety and health of students, staff and the public.  School District staff may be asked to assist in the safeguarding and release of students, or in other emergency functions.  This emergency operations plan addresses the planned response to emergency situations associated with disasters affecting the Sedro-Woolley School District.  This plan supersedes all previous plans.

    This plan accomplishes the following:

    • Establishes the emergency management organization necessary for response to an emergency or disaster affecting Sedro-Woolley School District.
    • Establishes the operational concepts associated with the management of emergencies.
    • It provides a flexible platform for planning and response to all hazards and emergencies that are likely to impact Sedro-Woolley School District. The plan is adaptable for disasters such as earthquakes, fires floods, landslides, public health emergencies, dam failures, and other situations.

This document serves as the legal and conceptual framework for emergency management in the Sedro-Woolley School District.  There is a number of separately published documents that support this plan. These references contain checklists and other resource material designed to provide users with the basic considerations and actions necessary for an effective emergency response to the specific hazard or function.  These reference documents may be modified as necessary without the Sedro-Woolley School District Boards' approval.
