Student Catering Services
The FACSE department at SWHS has offered catering services since 1997 as an integral part of our Food Production curriculum. We have focused our efforts as a service to benefit the school district, student groups and non profit groups within the community. We work hard to provide quality products to meet the needs of those we serve, and have traditionally charged food cost + 15% for our services for these groups. Our goal has always been to not take away business from those in the community who rely on catering services as a source of income.
The classroom is a licensed commissary and catering kitchen with the Skagit County Health Department. All students are required to have and maintain a valid food worker card while working in the program. With the addition of FCCLA (Family, Career & Community Leaders of America) to our program we are seeking to expand our services in a fundraising capacity for the club to cover the many student costs of competition and school/community projects.
In 2017 we began offering "Cub Grub" to staff members. Cub Grub is a way for our program to sell extra food products produced in the program to recoupe costs; it allows us to continue to offer a large quanitity and variety of hands on experiences for our students. Students in Food Production III will eventually operate this as entrepreneurs and hopefully expand to after school student food options in the future.
