Welcome to Mr. Hawk's Counseling Page For Ideas and Resources!

Hello, I am the school counselor at Samish Elementary. My name is Erik Haakenson and I go by "Mr. Hawk" on campus. I'm excited to get to know the families that make Samish a wonderful place to learn and work.

Even as life is slowly finding its way to "normal," there are big things happening in our community, country, and world. In these pages, you will find resources, information, and support to help families meet their basic needs, talk about important topics and help children succeed. Young people look to the adults in their lives to model how to deal with uncertainty and anxiety. You can help your young people by limiting exposure to frightening media, helping them to understand and process what's going on in the world, and practicing healthy coping skills together. As parents and guardians, the example you set and the care you give mean so much! I want to help you to help them.
