Clear Lake Elementary has been identified for the Washington Achievement Award for 2014–15. This reflects improved student performance and growth over the past 3 years in reading and math. Clear Lake was selected for high progress based on the top 10% of schools making the most progress in reading or English Language Arts and math combined performance of all student groups using three years of data.  There were 259 schools in Washington State who received these awards.

Clear Lake Elementary was recognized as a School of Distinction for Washington State during the 2015 school year.  The award is given to the top 5% (99 schools statewide-the only school in Skagit County this year) in our state based on continuous improvement in student achievement in math and reading over the past 5 years.

Announcements

  • We miss you when you are gone! Mrs. Slabodnik (AKA Mrs. S.) recently went to a statewide counselor workshop on attendance. She found out that by 6th grade, chronic absence becomes a leading indicator that a student will not graduate with their class. You can help us prevent chronic absence, which is missing 10% of the school year for any reason. That comes out to 12 days out of the first two trimesters or 18 days total for the year. According to a report on the website Get Schooled, achievement, especially in math, is very sensitive to attendance. Their website has an attendance calculator based on research. Using the calculator, if Mrs. S. were in 6th grade right now and had missed 12 days of school, her chances of graduating on time would be 73%. To use the attendance calculator, please see https://getschooled.com/dashboard/tool/343-attendance-counts. Our goal is to have more students attending regularly – missing no more than 5 days in the school year. Being in school leads to succeeding in school!
