Big Lake Elementary has served the children of this community forover 100 years. Our goal is for each student to receive a high-qualityeducation, providing them a great foundation for any future opportunity theydream of. This goal fits with our District Mission Statement that, "Everystudent graduates with the knowledge and skills for future learning andsuccess." To prepare our students for a bright future, we must provideappropriate challenge, developing critical thinkers. We must help studentsbuild strong skills and knowledge in math and science, reading and writing,history, technology, art and physical education, while offering ample academicand emotional support. A quality and caring staff set the tone for aenvironment with high expectations for all students.

Big Lake Elementary is also about parent and community involvement. Through thesupport of our volunteers and families, students participate in outdoor scienceeducation at Mountain School and Camp Orkila. The arts through MissoulaChildrens Theater, Artist-in-Residence, Poet-in-Residence and a wide range ofclass field trips. District music programs are available for orchestra andband. A student newspaper and ASB Leadership are a few of the otheropportunities our staff and community help provide for students.

Located at the south end of the district, Big Lake Elementary serves elementarystudents in the Big Lake and Lake Cavanaugh communities.

Big Lake Parent Group Association meetings are held the 3rdThursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Library.

    Big Lake and Lyman are being recognized as having Overall Excellence!  This award is given to the top 5% of all schools recognized by the state, based on sustained student academic growth over the past three years.

    Sedro-Woolley High School is being recognized as one of the top 10% of schools making high progress over the past three years!
