  • The Big Lake Elementary staff aspire to educate the whole child. As such we promote a program called Champions of Character. Each month a character trait is featured; throughout the month students have the opportunity to learn and practice the featured character trait. Students seen modeling the character trait are awarded a character coin. The student then has the option of placing the coin in our Big Lake Beaver Bank. Coins are drawn daily for a prize bracelet featuring that month’s character trait, and students of character are recognized over the loudspeaker. Each month one student from each class is chosen by the teacher to be their Champion of Character. These Champions of Character are honored at a breakfast put on by the Big Lake Parent Group.

The character traits we are working on this school year include: Respect, Honesty, Courage, Generosity, Responsibility, Kindness/Caring, Knowledge, Citizenship, and Gratitude. The photo below features this month’s character trait.
